Ramirez Family Foundation

about the program

Nica Nadadores is a youth development program that seeks to empower Nicaragua’s next generation of leaders. Founded in 2014 by Timmy Hayes and Scot Robison, alumni of the University of Virginia swim program, and Kyle Shoemaker, a former Clemson University swimmer, Nica Nadadores has successfully taught local kids to swim – and so much more.

The program helps young people build confidence, grit, and character.

For many students, progress in the pool transfers back to the classroom. Nica Nadadores also provides mentorship, leads service projects, and funds academic scholarships for talented youth. To keep up that momentum, Ramirez Family Foundation is investing in a Sports Complex to be shared by NCA II Nejapa and NCA I International students, the program’s main participants. The centerpiece is an Olympic-size pool!
